Organizational & Business Development

Few organizations fail for want of a plan. They fail because the plan was never wired into how the organization runs — the budget, the processes, the people, the projects. This practice connects those, and stays engaged while the change takes hold.
The outcome
An organization that knows where it is going, and is built to get there.
Often engaged in
Trade & industry · Financial services · Public institutions · Development

The situations that bring clients here

  • The strategy exists as a document but nothing downstream changed.
  • Growth has outrun the operating model, and processes are improvised.
  • An investor or lender has asked for things the business cannot yet produce.
  • Projects start well and close badly.

What we provide

The work, in detail.

Capability names and descriptions are taken from the HASI Company Profile 2026. This is the service we sell, not a marketing gloss of it.

01

Strategy & governance

Direction set, agreed and made executable.

Strategic planning
A participatory process built on the Cascade Model: situational analysis, planning workshops with management and stakeholders, a drafted plan refined through consultation, then validation before finalization. We stay engaged through execution, monitoring and periodic strategy review.
Business model design & innovation
Value proposition, operating model and revenue streams reworked using SWOT analysis, Design Thinking, the Value Innovation Canvas and the Business Model Canvas — research and insight, then design and prototype, then adapt and implement.
Business process improvement
Processes aligned to end-user needs and to the resources the organization actually has. Includes change management, performance management and support translating high-level vision into an actionable roadmap.

02

Finance & investment readiness

The numbers, controls and evidence an investor or auditor expects.

Investment readiness
Six connected disciplines that turn a promising business into a credible investment case: financial analysis and planning; business model design; governance and leadership development; market analysis; pitch deck and investor communications; and compliance and due diligence. Hands-on support runs through to a completed raise.
Accounting, ERP & financial management
Systems and controls, policies and procedures, budgets and forecasts, reporting and analysis. For ERP we run the full path — assess, install, customize, implement — across financial and wider business processes.
Financial auditing & assurance
Independent audit, assurance and accounting services in accordance with local regulations, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and International Standards on Auditing (ISA). Financial statements, internal controls and operations assessed to identify risk and improve transparency.
Business valuation & dispute services
Independent company valuation for mergers, acquisitions, investment and sale; forensic accounting and fraud investigation; litigation and arbitration support including quantification of economic losses; and shareholder or partnership dispute resolution.
Islamic banking advisory
Advisory for institutions developing or strengthening Shariah-compliant products and operations: strategy, product development, operations and process, Shariah governance and compliance, regulatory and risk advisory, capacity building, and market research and feasibility.

03

People & operations

The functions that carry the strategy day to day.

Human resource management
Recruitment from role definition through onboarding; HR audit and workforce planning; the policy framework governing people management; training and development; reward, career and succession planning; and payroll and performance administration.
Supply chain consultancy
End-to-end supply chain work aimed at lower operating cost, higher efficiency, reduced risk and greater resilience — combining industry knowledge, real-time analytics and strategic consultancy so gains in one part of the chain are not lost in another.
Marketing plan development
A marketing plan built as a working roadmap: assess the market and define the audience, draft the plan with an implementation framework, then execute with coordination across teams — covering acquisition and retention, expansion, product, distribution and brand equity.

04

Delivery

Getting it done, and closing it properly.

Project management — an external PMO
HASI acts as an external Project Management Office: project audits, progress monitoring, performance evaluation, risk identification and compliance, across planning, execution, and monitoring and evaluation. Senior project professionals reinforce client teams and coach project managers.
Business incubation
Support from idea to start-up for entrepreneurs — mainly youth and women. Technical writing, business model creation, business plan competitions run for donors and investors, results-based coaching and mentoring, and market access through networking, partnership and value chain integration.

How the work runs

The method, and what you keep.

Steps on the left, artefacts on the right. Deliverables are agreed in the written proposal before anything starts.
  1. Situational analysis

A thorough read of the internal and external environment before a single objective is written.

  2. Planning workshops

Interactive sessions with management and key stakeholders to set direction and priorities.

  3. Draft and consult

Outcomes consolidated into a draft, refined through consultation and stakeholder feedback.

  4. Validate

The plan validated with the organization before finalization — ownership sits with the client.

  5. Execute and review

We stay engaged through execution, monitoring and periodic strategy review.

Typical deliverables

  • Strategic plan with an execution and review schedule
  • Operating model and process documentation
  • Financial policies, budget models and management reporting pack
  • Investment memorandum, financial model and investor materials
  • HR policy framework, workforce plan and performance system
  • ERP requirements, configuration and go-live support
  • Audit and assurance report, or independent valuation report
  • PMO controls: project plan, risk register, progress and evaluation reporting

Questions

Asked before engaging us.

Do you stay involved after the strategy is written?
Yes — that is the point of the approach. Formulation is followed by execution support, monitoring and periodic strategy reviews. A plan that is handed over and never revisited is the failure mode we are trying to avoid.
Is HASI a licensed statutory auditor?
HASI provides independent audit, assurance and accounting services in accordance with local regulations, IFRS and ISA. Where an engagement requires a statutory audit opinion that must be signed by a licensed auditor in a specific jurisdiction, confirm the requirement with us at scoping and we will tell you plainly what we can and cannot sign.
Can you help us prepare for a specific investor?
Yes. Investment readiness work is usually shaped around the requirements of the actual counterparty — a bank, a development finance institution or a private investor — because their diligence checklists differ.
Who from HASI would actually do the work?
Assignments are staffed from our expert pool of 21 professionals according to the disciplines the work needs. We confirm the named team at proposal stage.
Organizational Development

An organization that knows where it is going, and is built to get there.

Tell us where your organization is against that outcome, and we will say plainly whether this practice is the right place to start, and what the first step would cost.
