HASI Consulting — Horn of Africa Strategic Initiatives

How we work

Easy to claim. Hard to verify. So verify us.

Consulting promises are cheap. This page sets out how a HASI engagement runs, what you can expect at each stage, and exactly what evidence we can and cannot publish — so you can check us against it.

The engagement

Four stages, and we do not leave after the third.

This shape holds whichever practice the work starts in.
  1. 01

    Listen

A scoping conversation at no charge. We examine your goals, strategies, operations and structures before recommending anything.

  2. 02

    Design

A written proposal: scope, method, the named team from our expert pool, deliverables, timeline and commercial terms. Nothing begins before it is agreed.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Our own consultants and technical specialists carry the work, drawing on all six practices as the assignment requires, against a named lead and an agreed reporting rhythm.

  4. 04

    Stay

Execution support, monitoring and periodic review. The improvement holding is the objective — not the report landing.

Working with us

No surprises, in either direction.

In the scoping conversation we ask three things: what you have already tried, who inside the organization owns the outcome, and what will count as success. The third is the one most often unanswered, and it is the one that decides whether an engagement is worth starting.

Those answers settle whether there is work here for us at all. If there is not, we say so at that point rather than write a proposal.

Everything after that is agreed in writing before it happens — scope, method, named team, deliverables, timeline and terms — and any change to them is agreed the same way. The phrase above is not a slogan: it means neither side should ever learn something about this engagement after the fact.

Client confidentiality

Why there are no case studies on this site.

We do not publish named case studies. Client profiles, documents and information are held in strict confidence and are not disclosed. That is one of the firm’s stated core values, and it applies to marketing as much as to delivery.

What we can do, on request and with the client’s written permission, is provide referenced examples relevant to your requirement: the sector, the scope, the method, the deliverables and the outcome, together with a contactable reference where the client agrees to act as one.

If a firm shows you detailed client cases without permission, it is worth asking what it would say about you.

What we can share on request

  1. 01A capability statement shaped around your requirement
  2. 02Referenced examples, where the client has given written permission
  3. 03Named team CVs for the proposed assignment
  4. 04Method statement and sample deliverable structure
  5. 05Contactable client references, where agreed

Usually returned within two working days of an enquiry.

Questions

Working with HASI.

What does a first conversation cost?
Nothing. The scoping discussion is free and carries no obligation. If we conclude the work is not a good fit for us, we will say so rather than write a proposal.
Who will actually do the work?
Assignments are staffed from our expert pool of 21 professionals, matched to the disciplines the work needs. The named team is confirmed in the written proposal, and CVs are available on request.
How do you price an engagement?
Pricing depends on scope, duration and the seniority the assignment requires, and is set out in the written proposal before anything starts. We do not publish rate cards because they mislead more often than they help.
Can you work outside Somaliland, Somalia and the Somali Region of Ethiopia?
Our operational presence is Hargeisa, Mogadishu and Jigjiga, serving clients across the Horn of Africa. Tell us where the work is and we will be direct about whether we can staff it properly.
What happens to our data and documents?
Client profiles, documents and information are held in strict confidence and are not disclosed. Specific handling, access and retention terms are agreed in the engagement contract. Our website privacy notice covers enquiries made through this site.
